TikTok Ban

I wasn't affected by the TikTok ban because I had long ago been tired of doom scrolling and listening to random individuals speak, as if what they said was fact, especially conspiracy theorists.

It's funny when I tried to download TikTok (to set some captions to a video with a song that I wrote and sang playing in the background), but couldn't find it in the App Store. I realized TikTok.com was fully functioning, though. I glanced over at the videos I didn't post but made private instead. There were a lot of videos of me singing famous songs as well as ones I'd written. Also, of my mom dancing. It's a shame that I didn't record my dad in any of them, but it's okay. I recorded him and took pictures of him and have them in my phone. Plus, before he passed away, I received a notification from Google photos displaying all the photos I took in my phones from the previous years.

This TikTok ban prompted me to rid myself of Instagram and Threads for good this year. I was trying to separate myself from Instagram last year, but in March of 2024, I joined a journal group and made "friends" who wanted my IG, so I postponed disappearing from social media altogether. Then just before my dad passed away in November of 2024, I made most of those "friends" aka strangers unfollow me and changed my username because they seemed more like haters than supporters. Who needs that?!

I took it upon myself to delete my IG and Threads profiles a few days ago, and when my therapist asked me why, I said, "Because it's 2025! There are so many things I can do with my time, that's not laying in bed mindlessly scrolling."

I continued listening to the books I purchased on Amazon's Audible the other day and I start classes at the end of the week. Therefore, I have more important tasks to fixate on. I can't wait for classes to start. I'm pumped!
